This week paypal has held my funds with apparently no reason except that "the algorithm decides on a case by case basis." I take issue with that but I'll explain that below. I sent the product, added tracking. Tracking shows that it is now sitting at the customer's post office, held at customer request. I have no control over when she will pick the item up. Two questions: 1) Are my funds on hold until she goes to the post office? Seems a bit unfair but it wouldn't surprise me. 2) I phoned paypal, as this has happened before, out of the blue and I wanted to know why. I was given the lame reasons such as new account or change in selling habits. None of them applied to me and I explained that to the rep. I said I wanted to know the answer so she checked with a supervisor. She came back and told me that her super said that the algorithm analyzes each transaction and makes a decision on every transaction and that decision cannot be overturned. Seems like a load of bs to me. Why tell me all that stuff about why payments are held, force me to prove those reasons invalid, then blame it on the computer that is apparently trusted more than a human? I mean really, just say "because we can" out of the chute. I generally have around $1000 in transactions per month, all of them around $50-$150. Average ticket of about $90 but some are as high as $300. Things go fine for a month or two and then I see a streak of payments that get held with the transaction having no apparent differences from those that aren't held. Same items, same price, same customer type, all domestic and all billed and paid via paypal invoice. Is that normal??
