I tried to view my account today. After logging in, I got a screen asking for my mobile phone number. There was no "Not Now" or other option. Without supply my mobile phone number (which I do not want to do), I couldn't proceed. I called Paypal and they asked for verification of my full credit card number and the last four digits of my social security number. They said the credit card number did not match and asked for a second credit card number. I know they have my credit card on file because I've been charging to it. I got suspicious that the system was hacked and refused to give a second credit card number or any further personal information. I asked to cancel the account and the agent didn't follow up on that and simply suggested that I try to login again after 48 hours. This led me to think the system was hacked and that my credit card might be running up fees in the next 48 hours. I changed my password and that also failed to resolve the problem. I want to cancel the account but I see no way to do it because I cannot login and get past the request for a mobile phone number.
