My wife ordered a Kitchenaide mixer from an ad on Facebook (bad idea, I know), but we never received it. I happened to notice a charge in my Paypal activity for the amount of the mixer. The payee was a string of Chinese characters. The tracking said it had been delivered to my mailbox. I went to the post office and they said the item delivered weighed one ounce. I then recalled a little packet of tissues that had came in the mail from China, with a tracking number on it. Seemed strange, but I didn't realize at the time what was going on. Obviously they sent the tissues just to have the tracking show delivered. The item description on the Paypal transaction said "all the items in your cart". I filed a dispute, of course, and provided Paypal with the document I got from the Post Office showing it was one ounce. After waiting for weeks, I just learned they had denied my claim because " the shipper had provided them with tracking information". Apparently the chimp handling the case couldn't figure it out. So, lesson learned, don't expect Paypal to give you any scam protection. I'm done using Paypal, and will be closing my account.
