I am extremely disappointed not only in the way PayPal handled an obvious fraud committed, but also in the length of time it took to respond. I'm wondering if any of you have experienced similar issues and if a complaint with the FTA or other agency is warranted by those of us victimized. In July, responding to a Facebook ad, I ordered two keyboards that were supposed to be replicas of typewriter keyboards at a cost of $109. Instead of the keyboards pictured and advertised, I received two very cheap wi-fi keyboards you can buy online for less than $10. Through Facebook, I found several other victims of the fraud that had also filed PayPal complaints. Today, long after my July purchase, PayPal responded that I would get a full refund IF I returned the cheap keyboards. Here's the catch: The return address sent by PayPal is a China address even though the return address on the sent keyboards was in California. Plus, the refund would be issued AFTER the thieves report they have received the returned keyboards. My questions are this: How can one challenge PayPal's so-called "solution" since there is no way to challenge it in the Resolution Center? How is it that PayPal can be involved in aiding and abetting PROVEN criminals? Is it time to enter into a class-action suit against PayPal for false advertising regarding "buyer protection?" I have been a PayPal customer for almost two decades and have seen a significant shift in the company's focus. I feel victimized not only by the thieves who ripped my off in China, but also by PayPal by expecting me to pay to return two deliberately, fraudulently sent items AT MY EXPENSE to an overseas address when it was sent from the United States. That, in itself, should be a red flag to PayPal regarding the fraud.
