I’m pretty sure I know the answer but can someone tell me if I’m being scammed? And what I should do? I’m an artist and I sold a painting for $600. This person requested overnight shipping, and then I began to receive pay pal emails. But what began to raise suspicion was when they said “ This is a confirmation email that the buyer has successfully added the sum of $500.00 USD to your PayPal account. You now have a total sum of $1,200.00 USD currently pending in your PayPal account but in other to safeguard this transaction, You have to make the refund of $500.00 USD before we could credit your PayPal account with the total sum of $1,200.00 USD. This is to ensure the safety of both parties. The buyer has requested the refund to be sent as eBay gift cards. You're to visit the nearest store to you and purchase eBay gift cards worth $500.00 USD. It "must" be a $100.00 USD ”... and when the buyer kept texting me about how he needed to make sure I don’t scan him, and kept asking me when I was going to send the cards. Am I being scammed? And if so what should I do next? I sent my painting to UPS yesterday but because of the weekend, it ships Monday.
