For intangible or digital goods, proof of shipment or delivery means compelling evidence to show the item was delivered or the purchase order was fulfilled. Compelling evidence could include a system of record showing the date the item was sent and that it was either: Electronically sent to the recipient, including the recipient’s address (email, IP, etc.), where applicable; or Received or accessed by the recipient Isn't that compelling evidence? If not shouldn't there be better examples for the same, or more specificity as to what is required? https://www.paypal.com/in/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#intangible-goods-proof ... View more

@kernowlass this was a software product. We do not sell it on a webstore where paypal is integrated for payment. And software was sent over chat and I have a video from the buyer itself showing himself using the software and commenting on it. Why wouldn't this count as proof? And if not, how does one securely take payments for software products(not SaaS). What is the proof of delivery? ... View more

I had taken a payment for a software product via paypal. After 3 months of delivery, buyer raised a dispute sayin "he never got no tracking number". Clearly it seems like he is trying to spin it off as that payment was for some physical product that required delivery and tracking number. I had responded the dispute with a trail of conversation from skype that showed my delivery of code in zip format, and also a screenshot to the gitlab repo that was used. One more point to mention maybe is that the buyer's paypal name and email are different from the one he used on skype and gitlab. Could this have been very harmful? What can be done about it? Paypal closed the dispute in buyer's favor. There was no explanation whatsover, and I do not see any other info on the dispute from buyer other than "he never got no tracking number". I've raised an appeal sending the same things again. However, since they already decided in buyers favor, not sure it's going to change anything for me. Questions are: 1. Paypal delivery of intangibles TOS states anything that shows the buyer received the item should work. So why would either of this have not worked? What is a good proof of delivery for software products? 2. Can I get information on why and how this decision was made? 3. What happens if i still dont agree with their decision on my appeal? ...
