It took a couple of emails to PayPal but eventually Marvin replied and was able to call back (most of their reps are not authorized to call back at this time of COViD) and he made the change for me. I mentioned to him he needs to escalate this as I mentioned you and at least one other person has posted in this Community Forum so it must be a systemic issue. Hopefully it gets resolved for you and others without you having to ask them to make the change for you before your next US $ transaction. I am guessing that it is not an issue generally for US customers who are unlikely to have a US bank issued Canadian $ Visa card, whereas for us Canadians not uncommon to have a US$ Visa card. I finally received a call from a PayPal representative today and he was able to fix things by making sure that the transactions in my US $ Visa card would be in US$ and not Canadian $ and I was then able to make a transaction in US$ using this card. ... View more

Paypal must have changed this recently because I encountered the same problem with one of my recent transactions where earlier in April it was done with US$ on my US$ Visa card but later in April, it did a Canadian $ conversion for a US$ purchase even though I was using a US$ card. Like you I have been emailing Paypal Help but so far not able to resolve as they are not allowed to call me directly. Apparently they need to switch the transaction currency on our US$ Visa card to US$ even though that was what it has been, I am guessing someone goofed and changed the transaction currency for all VISA cards from Canadians to Canadian $.  ... I have add the same issue, one day it was working and the next week, no longer and started quoting in Canadian $ equivalent. In my email correspondence to them they said that they would call to change the currency of the card to US& but when I left phone number they replied they could not call me and I had to contact them which as you know is a endless cycle and not being able to speak to anyone. ...
