I have the exact same issue. Someone got in my paypal account and reset my account email to theirs (I had to login to an old PayPal account to post here). Received an email from PayPal stating that an email address was added to my account. Went directly to the PayPal site and tried to login to my account to review, I cannot login. Paypal tells me my email does not exist. Paypal auto system is useless, it keeps telling me to reset my password, but I CANNOT, the email address has been reset and my email address was removed from the account. The password reset will be sent to the new email and not mine. Customer service number just says they cannot assist me and hangs up. Email seems to go nowhere. After giving the email from PayPal all the usual tests (it seems legit), plus the fact that I can no longer login. I went to a safe device and clicked on the ("If you didn't add this email address click here", link. Again, useless, it just asks me to login. I have turned off the card used on the account and now I have to get a new card and reset all the places that do autorenewal on that card. PLEASE PayPal give me a better solution or even just a response, other than, "login and reset your password"....
