The IPN verification SDK is now throwing an SSL error: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Exception: cURL error: [60] SSL: no alternative certificate subject name matches target host name 'ipnpb.paypal.com' in xxxx/PaypalIPN.php:126\nStack trace:\n#0 xxxx/notify.php(22): PaypalIPN->verifyIPN()\n#1 {main}\n thrown in xxxx/PaypalIPN.php on line 126 When navigating to ipnpb.paypal.com in a browser, an SSL error is indeed thrown. What's happening here?

Nevermind, please disregard ... turns out our WAF was flagging some of the IPs coming from the PayPal ASN as bots and blocking them. We've cleared it up now.

Looks like this week the IPN notifications have been very delayed. A sale will happen and then the IPN historical dashboard will show the transaction in a retrying state for up to 6 times or so with NO HTTP status code. Sometimes the IPN packet comes through in a minute, other times it comes in a whole hour after the transaction occurs. This is causing big problems for us. I know it's not our server as I've checked all the server logs and there is only ever ONE attempt to call our IPN handler (notify.php) and it always returns a status 200 and works fine. This is obviously the last retry attempt (again, up to an hour after the purchase sometimes). Every attempt by PayPal to resend the packet doesn't actually do anything. It's not our firewalls/WAF/security systems either as we setup logging to track all packets and it only ever comes in just one time - just very delayed. So what's going on PayPal with the IPN systems? Can we please get this resolved?

Thanks ETF - you're correct, that's the response back from PayPal, but not the response back from the default verifyIPN method that PayPal provides in the SDK. See the last bit of code from their implementation: // Check if PayPal verifies the IPN data, and if so, return true. if ($res == self::VALID) { return true; } else { return false; } VALID is just a constant that is = 'VERIFIED'. So you're trimming $res in this example then?

What does your verified variable contain so we can compare notes with the above poster? verified should only be returning a boolean, true or false. Not VALID/INVALID I thought?

Trim the result of this? $verified = $ipn->verifyIPN(); ... and that fixed the issue for you? For me it seems $verified is actually coming back entirely empty!

IPN verifications started failing earlier this week for a brief moment overnight (EST) and then seemed to have resolved. Then again, earlier this morning (EST) around 6AM IPN verifications started failing again. Even if I re-sent the IPN packet, it would still fail verifications, so I had to manually process sales. What's going on and when can we expect a fix please?

I am experiencing issues with this as well. The same occurred earlier in the week and then seemed to have resolved itself. The IPN verifications are failing even though they shouldn't be. PayPal - what's going on?
