Send a message in the message center, and try to get to speak to someone from Paypal live in the message center. They are extremely helpful there, instead of the resolution center which is probably manned by bots and some intern that is hating life, and wants to see it all burn. lol   I used the message center yesterday, and they were great. If you get someone live.  ... View more

Don't contact them anymore. The more you do, the more they will try to do further scams, or get more information from you, they can use. Or they just won't reply. Just set up a case with Paypal, and wait. Just learn from this, and be really careful and check out sites before you buy from them. I have been studying scams for years, but I still fell for one a couple days ago. Because the site was secure. But these are those kinds of sites that are easily made, and abandoned. It really is valid that if it seems too good to be true, then don't fall for it. They got my weakness of wanting a really high quality guitar I couldn't afford.  ... View more

Paypal doesn't have to check if a site is fake. If they did, that is all they would be doing all day, 24/7  And there is nothing they can do to the site if it is. They are not the Better Business Bureau.  They can only go through the steps with you, to get some resolution. But what we all can do is spread the word about these fake sites. I just got taken in by one yesterday.  ... View more

Tips for unauthorized charges and scam sellers.

If you find continual unauthorized charges on your account, and Paypal is slow or not available to do anything. I would say, immediately change your Paypal password. Your email password if it was involved in any recent transaction. Your bank online password. Because if you go through a site like that, they may have a way to see your log in information, and can then make authorized transactions through your bank, through your paypal, and search your emails for information.  ... Yeah, that makes sense that these scam sites are secured now, and encourage using Paypal, when they see they can still do what they do, and get away with it, because Paypal employees are either are told they can never act on any obvious discrepancies, but have to follow a sequence of instructed actions, or they are just not careful.  I know even a year or two ago, you could manually stop a transaction in process if you saw something odd, but they removed that feature.    ... I did too. From a site that supposedly sells high end guitars for under a $100. Basically early this same morning, the tenth. I tried to stop the payment at Paypal, all day today. and contact Paypal by phone, because the resolution center takes a couple weeks before they will step in.  Even though when it was pending for $94 The seller changed it to $108 Which I didn't know that could be done, which scared me even more, because I initially approved $94 When I transferred to Paypal. But there were taxes and shipping was free in the invoice.  I was worried they could find some way to keep making charges. I changed my password, in case when going through their site to paypal, they were able to get passwords and make charges. I guess they caught on that there is a lot of people out there that would like a really good guitar, but can't afford one. So seeing that makes them not be careful. And the site was listed as secure. If I get some cheap guitar, I guess it is not a complete loss. These sites used to be unsecured, and will encourage people to put in a credit card, instead of using paypal. The premise that got me is they said the guitar shop was filing bankruptcy, and needed to pay some fees, so was selling the guitar inventory. But it worries me, if something like this happens, and you can't get real time help from Paypal. What about unauthorized charges? Or unauthorized follow up charges? People don't need to be near each other to do customer service over the phone. ... View more

I had something like that with a hot tub controller I sold. I used to do that, so I had parts still. I sent it, and they wanted to send it back, because they claimed they didn't think it would work. But they knew what it was, and I even checked their hot tub, brand from them, before I sent it. They lived in Minnesota. They filed a complaint on ebay. So I ended up getting it back, and issuing a refund, I was bummed, and felt like closing the store. But not more than a few days later, someone from Brazil needed that part and ordered it. I sent it, and never heard a thing about it after. So apparently it worked. Even though the first guy, broke off the connection lock, to make it look defective. So maybe someone will but it, because they really need that bike part, and don't care if it is in a package.  ... View more
