HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

To each his own.

You were all missing the point though.  Feel free to sell/buy on Craigslist or Ebay, no one is holding you to staying with either one.  If you don't like Ebay, then don't sell/buy here.

Payments should be held for a reason.  I personally know of someone (have no intentions of ever being friends with this person because of this) that has a tendency to put up items on BOTH EBAY AND CRAIGSLIST (same items!!!)  will only accept instant (monies are not held through Paypal) payments through Ebay, then sell to the person on Craigslist...hence making twice the money.  This is not only dangerous but illegal!

I realize that some people need the money right away.  I was one of those a few times. But for a safer, more secure transaction go with Ebay/Paypal.

To the person that hasn't had funds released yet..CALL!!! I cannot stress that enough!!!!  Don't complain about if you haven't tried to call them!  They were more than helpful to see the oversight in my account and within seconds had not only the few that needed to be released but released a few more.

Point is....every purchase or sold item (Ebay or Craigslist or whatever) has its own risks.  You ultimately decide which ones to take.

I find the payment holds on MY MONEY to be punitive and an excuse for PayPal to earn money on my money by withholding it from me for three weeks.  This policy truly **bleep** and has made me think twice about using eBay and PayPal.  If an employer were to withhold an employee's pay in such a manner, it would be considered illegal.  I am quite capable of handling my own money and I don't need an intermediary processor standing in the way.  I am on disability and I count on my sales to help pay some of my medical bills.  When I can't even get to what is MY MONEY, this makes my life very difficult.  Why should I have to wait to receive what is mine so I can fill prescriptions I need?  I've owned businesses in my life before disability and never would I hold payment to a vendor when I received payment from a client.  I made sure that cash was flowing.  My bank NEVER put holds on my deposits nor did the credit card companies.  Trying to get anyone on the phone at eBay or PayPal is a joke and there is no truth to their word regarding positive feedback and delivery of goods.  I have 100% positive feedback and every item I've shipped has been delivered in record time.  I have followed all of the best practices and still are punished.  This is not a policy for protection, it's a policy of greed and avarice on behalf of PayPal.  There is NO GOOD REASON that can be given for executing this punitive policy..NONE!!  I guess the real question is, does eBay and PayPal really want to stay in business?  They are making policies that will drive business away.  There are other places I can go to sell and I can even create my own site.  It would cost me far less and I can set up my own merchant account to receive payment.

Shame on you, PayPal for abusing your customers...your bread and butter.  Why should anyone trust you?  Holding your customers hostage is certainly no way to win friends or influence people.   Isn't it enough that you take a final percentage fee off of my sales?  You charge to list and you charge to sell, then you hold my money just so you can make money on it.  Bad business practice and bad business model!!

Just found out that you can open an account with a merchant bank people pay your ebay with paypal they cannot touch your money. That is the way ebay supervisors told me to go. It seems they have an ongoing struggle inside of there own company"paypal" yes you can sue them and win all you need to do is issue a suit in your city paypal has to send a representative to small claims court. They never do as it cost a minimum of $5000 to send an attorney they will always loose and never send anyone. Judges love small things like this as large banks only have 30days to pay or quit so that means if you have not filed then expectation is on there side. I talked with paypal via telephone from ebay. the ebay supervisor  was even yelled at on a rerecorded phone call that I recorded. the ebay supervisor helped me set up an acoount with the merchant bank. it was very easy and you never loose your buyers. they send money through paypal to you at 1.3%  I want to put a shout out for ebay helping me out.  like I said I recorded the conversations and asked all persons names involved the ebay supervisor asked the paypal employee not to yell at me.  What a nite.

It's just preposterous when I send a payment to Pay Pal it's usually a 5 second approval time period. Yet when Pay Pal sends me a payment it's 21 days or longer! Right now I am at 24 days since my two items sold for $***.00 dollars with still no funds yet in Pay Pal?

I've really complained several times to Pay Pal! And I'm thinking they are now really taking their time just to **bleep** me off even more. Won't ever go through Ebay or Pay Pal again! It's too bad I have much to sell, but there are many, many other avenues to go through elsewhere so it's there loss!

I'm in the same boat. the customer has the item I sold them and is satisfied but pay pal is still holding the money. I was going to start a home based business through ebay but apparently not after this. Quick to take money out of my account but not to put in which is rediculous. I really needed that money to help continue my business but now I have to wait 20 something days and there's no garantee.

I'm also done with ebay and pay pal.

Exactly my thinking too, my hope was to do a side business from home using Ebay via Pay Pal.! First few items the process was fine! Still took time once customer had item but money was soon in Pay Pal, then later I was emailed funds were available.

Now there's still no funds AT ALL? And any complaint isn't dealt with by a "Human" which is really a problem. Any replys from Pay Pal or even Ebay are just surveys to answer? Which I gave them the worst possible grade!

So all plans for any business with Ebay/Pay Pal are off my list now!
