Unable to link bank account, confirmatory deposit never appears

After over a decade of having my bank account linked to Paypal I woke up one morning to find it had gone. That was odd as I never received anything from my bank or Paypal to say why.

I went about trying to re add it, which initially gave me various error messages eg. try again later (the single most annoying error message ever: when later? what is likely to happen in the meantime to make things different). Paypal help pointed out there were  two  applications pending for the same account and when I went to delete the extra one there was only one and the app wouldn't let me delete it. Later it disappeared. I don't recall if i removed it as frankly it is one of those situations where I try multiple avenues to try to restore my acct to its previous status as the source of funds and get different closed doors each time,  the process and my patience are so frazzled I sometimes think I am losing my mind.

Ultimately when I do succeed in getting somewhere with linking my bank account I am waiting for the small confirmatory deposit  but it never appears in my bank statement. Countless explanations by PayPal's automated help that I need to look at the deposits of a few cents and enter the amounts is any use if the deposits aren't there.

The only two things i can think of are  it is something to do with my bank (they aren't saying anything if it is) or i have been blocked from applying because it thinks I was planning some brute force type attempt at guessing the money deposited as I think you only get limited attempts to enter the small amounts deposited for security reasons. A bit like being locked out of a bank account for multiple incorrect PIN attempts. If so Paypal gives no indication of this.

I will keep badgering paypal assistant about this but I was wondering if anyone has had this experience? Any ideas?

Every time you request a code to confirm a card or bank account it cancels the previous request/code.
If you input the first code to arrive it would be the cancelled one.
Do that 3 times with the first code and you would no longer be able to confirm your card or bank account that way.
The correct code would have been the second (or last) code you requested.

You would need to ask customer services to add it for you.
They would probably request that you upload a copy of your card or bank statement to prove ownership of the account as you couldn't complete the code method.

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones when available (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.
Or
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.
