How to Stop Paypal auto charge from other credit cards?

I have 5 credit cards registered in my Paypal account.
One of my bank cards is selected as preferred, I select others manually if necessary. I prohibit the use of money that is directly stored in my PayPal account for payments without my consent.
However, since March 2024, eBay has undergone some changes related to its interaction with PayPal.
Firstly, when choosing a payment method using PayPal, I am no longer asked for a PayPal password, despite the fact that in my PayPal settings the autologin function is disabled for all resources.
Secondly, PayPal now debits money from wherever it pleases, despite my card settings for default payment. For example, all my money was written off from my PayPal wallet, despite the fact that everything was in order with the money on my preferred bank card.
And today the money was debited from a non-preferred card, and ignoring the conversion method I had chosen - my bank.

As long as I had the ability to log in and manually select a card for every eBay purchase, I didn't have these problems.

Why did these unpleasant changes occur? How to return everything as it was?

Hello,
As you can see, no one has yet (after 6 days) answered my question. But I noticed a certain pattern. All eBay payments that went through without requiring manual PayPal authorization had the status Automatic Payment. But all payments where the PayPal authorization window and the menu for selecting a funding source were present received the status - Payment. So I went to the settings menu in my PayPal account: Payments - Automatic payments and deleted eBay from the lists. It seems to me that after this the PayPal authorization window appeared and the ability to select a card when making payments on eBay. I'm not completely sure because I only made a couple of purchases after that. I am surprised by the fact that eBay has always been in my Automatic payments lists, but it has never canceled authorization before.
