Charges going to bank account when I don't want them to.

I have my credit card set up as the approved preference for payments through Paypal. Over the past few weeks, these charges have gone to my bank account instead. Why, when I didn't change any settings?

You're not alone. I've seen a bunch of recent posts saying the same thing. I think historically there's been so much confusion (user error) concerning 'automatic payments' that PayPal refuses to investigate now. A classic case of crying wolf-- or a CS rep blindly reading their script even when faced with direct contradiction. When all else fails, they blame it on mysterious unquestionable AI. PayPal doesn't want to admit fault and be on the hook for overdraft fees and lost rewards. It should be pretty easy for PayPal to run a report and notice the trend. If no settings have changed, then payment method should not change. Until this month, I don't think my linked bank account was ever used in 15+ years.

I also had this problem recently.  My CC is my preferred payment method, however, PayPal used my bank account information and processed payments to Uber from there.  NOT HAPPY about this.

@Tim_T_73,

Does Uber use an 'automatic payment'? If so, are your PayPal payment preferences for Uber correct?

Yes, my preferences are to a CC first and a bank account second.  For the Uber transactions they went to the bank account and for others they went to the CC as expected.
