Paypal in 3 refunds

i bought an item online and paid by paypal in 3, the 1st installment is taken from my bank straight away and the next day i cancelled it to return it because it was the wrong thing, it was from argos and they have refunded me back to my paypal in 3 method with an email confirming this, the money is not in my PayPal balance and the 1st installment is taken, when do i get the refund, is it when i pay all 3 installments first? or will my first installment go back into my bank? and if its the second option then will my other 2 installment automatically get cancelled so that im not paying for something thats been cancelled. Thanks.

If you funded the original Paypal payment to the seller from your bank account or a card then once marked refunded/completed it will automatically go back to that bank account or card.
Normally it can take a few days up to a week to go back to a bank account. Paypal say allow 30 days for a card (1 billing cycle) but its rarely that long.
(Can vary according to country though).
