Pay in 3 refund issue

I have an issue around a Pay in 3 transaction. I returned one of the items I ordered to the seller (return was agreed by the seller, PayPal were not involved at this point). I waited and waited for a refund, so I eventually opened a dispute with PayPal. The seller then issued a refund and PayPal closed the dispute. But, they refunded the wrong amount. Or so it appears. Only a partial amount shows as being credited back to PayPal. The seller has told me they issued a full refund back to PayPal. However, PayPal say only a partial amount was refunded, which they just allocated to reduce the remaining balance owed. The partial refund amount is there in black and white on my PayPal account. As a result of this, PayPal are still charging me installments on the order. I have queried with the seller again and again and they are adamant they refunded the full amount. The PayPal evidence suggests otherwise. The refund amount that was credited to my PayPal account is equal to the initial installment I paid at the point of order - the amount that was deducted from my card at the point of purchase. But the remainder of the refund should have then been allocated to clear the remaining installments. I've had to make a second installment to the Pay in 3 otherwise it's going to affect my credit rating. So I am now owed 2 payments back to my card, and then the final installment should be cancelled. I don't know how this has happened - is this seller error or PayPal error? Any ideas on what has happened here ? I can't reopen the dispute with PayPal as it was closed in my favour and they are refusing to take anything further to do with the situation. I don't know where to go from here.
