I was looking at the Merrill shoe website this morning for the first time ever. Three hours later, PayPal sent me a discount specifically for Merrill shoes. PayPal Marketing needs to know that this is too intrusive. My search history should not be linked to my payment account. Best case scenario, PayPal is buying my search data to tailor offers. Worst case, PayPal is exploiting their direct relationship with me to any paying vendor. Either way, it does not reflect well on PayPal. I work in Bank Fraud and the unsolicited connection from random search activity to secure account actions without notification or permission goes against GLBA and PIPEDA.
