Paypal payments showing as direct debits?

Hi,

Im slightly confused and I have approached my bank but i don't think they could quite understand my issue.

I was looking through my bank statements and seen some payments for Paypal, these all showed as direct debits and have caused my account to go overdrawn.

Whenever I make a purchase, I ALWAYS have the funds in my bank account and these are immediatley debited once the checkout is complete. My bank does not let me in any circumstance spend more than available, and if i tried, a payment would show as declined. So, when I have made a purchase, the money has automatically been debited from my account. But now, My statements are showing several payments to Payplal as direct debits which have caused the account to go overdrawn. Im confused! Please help

Thanks, Stacey

When you pay a seller it is never instant > paypal credit the seller for you and then start the process of uploading your funds to paypal from your funding source.

This is done so you get your item more quickly.

So the funds may not leave your bank account for up to 3 days later.

May be that is why you can't recognise the payments.

Go to your paypal account and click on the history tab and see if you can match payment to item.

Possibly, I wil check that. By 'immediatley debited' I mean that, that money would be no longer available for me to spend.

Ie, If i had £5 and spent £3, my bank balance would automatically show as £2 available, even if the overall balance was still £5.

Thanks, Stacey
