Payments from Nigeria

Hello,

Can I receive payments from Nigeria via my PayPal account in America?  If so how much can my customers send at a time in one payment?

Accounts in Nigeria can send you money BUT be very careful as there are LOTS of scams involving that country.

If its a sale NEVER be conned into sending an item if the funds are not showing in your paypal account balance.

Never be conned by emails that say you will only see the funds in your balance if you provide a tracking number first.

Never be conned into sending money via western union or moneygram to any shipping agents and they re-pay you via paypal.

I think a lot of positive changes have happened in the Nigerian financial system. Take for example the Bank verifucation number system where every Nigerian account is now tied to the account holders biometrics. As a banker, I can confirm that this system has drastically reduced financial fraud in Nigeria by 89% over the last 3 months. All paypal needs to do is to leverage on this system to verify users, No scammer would want his biometrics to be connected to a scam because their true identity would be revealed. Other mechants in Nigeria have adopted this system as a means of user verification. Paypal please consider this as well.

The point is that scammers in Nigeria DO NOT USE PAYPAL AT ALL.

The whole point of the scam is that they send emails "that look" as if they are from paypal telling the sellers to send items BEFORE the funds are showing in their paypal account OR to send a payment via western union for shipping BEFORE the funds are showing in their paypal account.

Those funds never show as they don't use paypal and the emails are spoofs.

So it does not matter what paypal does to verify users it would make no difference to these scams.
