Payment pending for review

I'm uk based. I received a payment from a friend from the usa over 24 hours ago. The payment is pending as PayPal are reviewing it. How long does this normally take? I really need to get the money transferred into my bank account. Is there anything i can do to speed this process up? Thank you in advance.

Does it say paypal are reviewing it?

What currency did she send and what currency is your paypal account set up in and have you added that currency?

I have the same problem! I received a payment from the USA yesterday and it says pending, I need the money before I can send stuff to her. She sent it in dollars so I can only presume it's pending because Paypal have to convert it to pounds?

Americans seem to always think we want their currency but they are supposed to pay you in your currency.

If you want to then you can refund the payment as you should not have to pay the currency conversion fees for her.

If its pending then you need to add dollars as a receiving currency via clicking on paypal balance > manage currencies and then once its in your balance then you can go back and convert it in to sterling (fees apply).

Personally i would tell the buyer that the payment can't be received as its in dollars and she can cancel it or wait 30 days for it to be returned back to her.
