Not receiving money

I was sent money from someone in U.S. Yesterday and still have not received it it is around couple hundreds and it's been awhile and I still have not receive the money in my account can someone explain why it is still pending on my friends side?

Have they sent in dollars or sterling?

Can you accept dollars on your paypal account?

Have you double checked the email address that person sent to as even a small typo or misplaced dot would mean the payment would go elsewhere.
