Help! Refund not Showing

Hi All,  I may be being a little daft here,  i recieved an email at 8.01am this morning (20/11/17) off paypal advising that i had been sent a refund, the email stted that it could take a couple of minutes to show in my available balance, however, its been over an hour and there is no sign of the money.  the recent transactions shows the money being refunded however it isnt there.  does anyone know how long a refund will take to show in my available balance?

How did you fund the paypal payment to the seller in the first place?

Was it bank transfer OR a debit or credit card?

the original payment was via paypal on my debit card.

If you funded the original paypal payment to the seller with a debit card then it won't go back to your paypal balance.

Once marked as completed it will automatically go back to your bank account / card automatically but takes up to a week to process through to the bank  (paypal say allow 30 days but I have never waited longer than a week for mine).

Just so i am clear, althought i paid via paypal using my debit card, the refund will be sent traight back to my card and i wont have to withdraw the funds from paypal? im sorry if i am asking daft questions, this side of paypal is a stranger to me.  i am used to sending payments and thats all.

Not daft at all, you are not the only one that is confused re refunds as I get that question a lot.

If you FUNDED your paypal payment to the seller that was refunded via bank transfer OR funds in your paypal balance then it goes back to your balance.

BUT if you FUNDED your paypal payment to the seller that was refunded via a debit or credit card then it automatically goes back to that card but takes about a week to clear though.

Paypal send emails to say the refund is in your account so folks expect it to show in their paypal balance but if they used a card to pay then it won't as it goes back to that card automatically and you don't have to 'withdraw' anything.
