Cannot accept Pending Payment

I have a pending payment in my PayPal account but I when I click to accept it I'm told I myst be a verified user to accept the payment. When I click "Get Verified" it tells me I'm already verified. I'm going round in circles!

 

I've looked for possible solutions:

I've tried deleting my cookies, history etc and using a different web browser on my iPad but that doesn't change anything.

I've tried adding another email address, making that the primary email address then changing back to the original email address but that does nothing.

I've been to the "manage currencies" page but £ sterling seems to be already selected as the default setting. (it's the currency in bold so that would mean the default?!)

I'm stuck! It's so frustrating. Any ideas?
