Unfortunately that's really not enough information. There can be multitude of reasons and it may not have anything to do with PayPal at all.
The PayPal item button code is basically an HTML Form. Many web sites and/or HTML Editors don't play well with HTML Forms or don't allow them or require you to be in a specific editing mode before you can insert the Form. For example, if you site does not allow Forms, you should be able to use the text or hyperlink version of the item button code. What you need to do is check with the products/services you're using, whether it's your site host or Editor and find out how HTML Forms are handled.

First, your problem does not appear to be a PayPal button code issue. It's the design of your web site as it's not setup for iPad use. The button code is pushed to the side as the alignment is off. In order for it to be iPad compatible and have everything displayed properly, you have to have specific page height and page width settings . This can be controlled via your style sheet or .css file. If you designed your site thru 1&1, you may want to check with their support for assistance.
