How long does it take to authenticate API credentials

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me.  I have started up a website and I am now on the payment part.  I have followed the instructions on setting up the payment.  I have entered my API info but every time I try to complete a payment I get this message:

Sorry, an error occurred after you clicked the last link

Does anyone one know how long it usually takes to authenticate.  I did this at 9am, I dont want to keep messing with it in case I am delaying the authentication process.

Just an update, I have tried this on another PC and the order went through although there was an error message at the end saying that the order was pending please contact us to make payment.  I have then tried on another computer and have got the original error message again.

Any ideas?
