Hi all. I received a notification from PayPal that someone sent me an invoice to make a payment of USD 500 for purchasing a anti virus software which I didn't make. Could I just leave it like that with out paying or how do I cancel or report this?

I also received one of these invoices for Bitcoin in the amount of $499.30 with an email that said:
You have successfully made a transaction for your Bitcoin (BTC) Using Paypal, you Charged the amount mentioned in the INVOICE. This transaction may take 12 hours to appear in your Bank Statement. Do give us a Call for any dispute regarding the Payment and issue a Refund at [Removed. Phone #s not permitted].
Clicked the bill in my PayPal dashboard but it said the invoice was no longer available. Tried to cancel and notification said that wasn't possible. Tried to submit a dispute to the resolution center and received a prompt that said that also wasn't possible. However, it still shows up in my dashboard as a bill that needs to be paid. If I'm unable to report it to Paypal, then I surely hope my credit isn't hurt because of this.😠 Have spent considerable time trying to figure out how to get assurance from PayPal that this won't hurt my credit if I don't pay it (which I certainly will not).

I got the same message in below, but do not find the invoice in my PayPal account, this has the same PayPal loco. It looks scary legit. The invoice ID is in this format: xXXX-xxxXxX-Xxxxx , all letters only. No where to report it in Paypal. I can only ignore this message.
Great News! We've Got Your Order Paypal
We hope you are loving your new account. Thanks for your recent purchase.

Hey @Kincheda,
Thank you for your post.
I appreciate receiving this would have been very concerning. If you believe the email or invoice is fake, don’t click on any links; please forward it to us. In some cases, you can cancel a received invoice. However, if you can’t, we ask that you disregard the invoice and forward the email you received to us. PayPal is working on deleting invoices that were created by bad actors. Please forward the email to phishing@paypal.com
For more information on spoof emails, see: How do I spot and report a fake, fraudulent, or phishing PayPal email or website?
I hope this helps.
Rebecca

I got this too. I got any email saying I made a bitcoin purchase and the invoice was in PayPal. I logged in and there was the invoice for $1,299.00 to Robert LLC. I looked the invoice, it looked legit, but I know nothing about bitcoin and didn't make a purchase. There was a number to call if I wanted to cancel immediately. I called and the guy said to go to my general setting/language & region. He told me to look all way down to the bottom and I saw an amount, and he said it was my bitcoin purchase. He wanted me to go to the app store, download "AnyDesk Remote Desktop" and he would need the 9 digit code to logon my phone. Despite being nervous about a $1.2k charge, I'm not letting someone have access to my phone. And then I noticed that the amounts on settings/language & region said "Region Format Example" Also the numbers were $1,234.56 & 4,567.89, the numbers are all sequential 123456 & 456789. The only way I was able to report this was to send the email I received to phishing@paypal.com. I tried using the Resolution Center but it didn't work to report this invoice. Needless to say I changed my user id and pw to both PayPal and my bank accounts, I also deleted my bank account and credit card on PayPal. I wonder if I'll here from anyone at PayPal.

Please do not fall for this. By downloading "AnyDesk" they get access to your phone or computer. This is a scam based on breached email data. These scammers are spamming paypal addresses hoping someone clicks to pay. Just delete or ignore. Wish Paypal could offer more support to consumers on this.
