Hi all. I received a notification from PayPal that someone sent me an invoice to make a payment of USD 500 for purchasing a anti virus software which I didn't make. Could I just leave it like that with out paying or how do I cancel or report this?

If you don't pay it then you are not scammed are you.
All they are doing is sending you a money 'request' ie asking for money, if you ignore it nothing happens.
Bit like getting scam letters in the post.

I got a request for money from someone I don’t know, I saw on here that you can click cancel on that request but I don’t see “cancel”? Anyone got a solution?

I received a request from stranger for $699.99 with an email address ending with "at"outlook.com that had a wording in the "Note" very similar to one I received on September 30 from a different stranger. I ignored the request and threatening note on September 30. Today I accessed by PayPal account on my laptop and found both requests in my "activity" section. The "help" area, a banner was present that said, "Received a suspicious invoice? Don’t pay it. And don’t call any phone numbers stated in the invoice note. You can cancel any unwarranted invoices in your PayPal account."
There was no "cancel" option in the email that notified me of the "request", but in the activity section at PayPal, the request did provide a button to "cancel". I did so for both requests. That triggers a reply that no payment will be made and the person requesting will be notified. I'm afraid that will simply let some bad actor know they found a "live" email recipient. It appears that my earlier ignoring of the September "request" simply let it sit there, waiting to be accepted or cancelled. Maybe ignoring them is best, but certainly do not phone the number in the "Note" to inquire from the bad actor what is going on.

Sounds like a scam money request or invoice.
Scammers harvest email addresses and send out those requests hoping some email addresses are linked to paypal accounts and the unsuspecting recipient 'may' pay them not realising they are scams OR the scammers put phone numbers in the ''notes'' section so that as its a genuine paypal invoice you think the phone number is real and call it.
If you do call that number to query the transaction or cancel it they tell you that you need to pay a fee (sent not using Paypal) for them to be able to cancel the payment for you....that is the scam as they know it's unlikely you will click to pay it.
Sometimes if the cancel is not on the web you may see it on the app.
If there is a cancel option then cancel it, if not ignore it and hopefully it should time out at 30 days.
As long as you don't click to pay it then no money would be transferred.

On my Paypal account there is an obvious scam invoice for $699.99 I have tried everything I can think of to remove it. I tried to report it, but Paypal said that I can't report that type of incident. I tried to get an answer using Paypal's chat and it referred me back to the stupid resolution page. How do I get rid of the invoice which is not mine?
