Received invoice from one seller which I didn't make any purchase. Is it a scam?

Hi all. I received a notification from PayPal that someone sent me an invoice to make a payment of USD 500 for purchasing a anti virus software which I didn't make. Could I just leave it like that with out paying or how do I cancel or report this?

Sure enough, I got one today.  I just forwarded it to phishing@paypal.com Thank goodness I didn't click on anything and so far do not see anything on my account.

We just got the same thing.  You definitely do have to take action to pay an invoice.  I'm glad to find this thread though.  It's weirdly reassuring.  I hope PP can do something about this.

This is the email I received on 09/21/2022. The words in red are marked because they are incorrect per spelling/grammar/punctuation/etc. Per PayPal's recommendation (help center), I forwarded the email to phishing at paypal dot com and then deleted the email.

I just received one today. What the heck. Below is the screenshot. It's coming from paypal email address, which is legit but seems very phishy.

I got this same exact content sent to a custom email address that I only use for Comcast / Xfinity. I created it on the 12th of this month, just before cancelling their service. Comcast clearly has an ongoing data breach.

Since the email will never be associated with a Paypal account, Paypal wouldn't let me cancel it, but I did forward the email to phishing@paypal.com

Paypal should provide a link within their invoice notification emails, to both cancel and report fraudulent phishing invoices.

I received a notice of an invoice for something I did not order.  I didn’t trust the email so I went directly to PayPal and logged in.  When I did, there was indeed a pending invoice for something I didn’t authorize the purchase of.  I had the option to cancel the invoice so I did.  Is there anything else I should do?  How could someone attempt to invoice me without my authorization?  There was the ability to get more information for the “business” listed on the invoice and it had a Hotmail email address so I suspect this was a scam.
