Hi all. I received a notification from PayPal that someone sent me an invoice to make a payment of USD 500 for purchasing a anti virus software which I didn't make. Could I just leave it like that with out paying or how do I cancel or report this?

So, went to the resolution center to report it and encountered a problem that they said they couldn't resolve. Same issue when contacting the message help. Like it's there but not there. I'm not sure what's going on, but I hope its resolved soon.

Scam money request or invoice that shows in your Paypal account..
Scammers harvest email addresses and send out money requests or invoices hoping that some of those email addresses are linked to an open Paypal account.
The unsuspecting recipient is given a fake Paypal phone number in the 'notes' section added by the scammer.
If you did call that number (DO NOT) to query the transaction the scammer tells you that they need to access your computer / Paypal account to cancel that transaction for you.
They will then hack your computer or Paypal account.
Paypal never put phone numbers on emails or in money requests/invoices, they tell you to contact them via help/contact bottom of their website pages.
If there is a cancel option then cancel it, if not ignore it and it should time out at 30 days.
As long as you don't click to pay it then no money would be transferred.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I received a request for over a thousand Australia dollars from someone I've never heard of. The domain of her email address is barred from access on my work browser so I have no idea who she is or what the payment request is for.
The email from Paypal that alerted me to the request said to phone an Australian number to dispute it but I am not in Australia and don't really want to make an international call about it.
I've cancelled the transaction request in my PayPal account but is there anything more I should do to alert Paypal of the fraud attempt?

First time I have had a problem on Paypal. I received a fraudulent money request for $299.
Dorothy [removed] sent you a money request
NOTE FROM Dorothy [removed]:
Thankyou For Subscription of "MS Office 365" 2022 " Paid :: $299. Payment Mode = Credit Card "if you want to cancel it contact us [removed]
She has an AOL e-mail address. I cancelled the transaction online but when I tried to report it to Paypal with their automated system, no luck.
I do buy a MS Office subscription for $99 a year paid for direct on my credit card. I paid it Nov 22.
Can anybody make a money request to Paypal if they have my e-mail? Should I be on the lookout for further problems?
