Dear Paypal,
Two weeks ago, my dear student and friend Marie [removed] tragically passed away in Singapore.
I decided to start a fundraising in her memory to support her family and her 15-year old son back in the Philippines. People have been touched by Marie [removed]'s story and have been very generous; SGD 5,851 have been raised so far. I turned to PayPal as I have personally been using the system for many years as my preferred platform to gather funds.
What a mistake…
After contacting PayPal, everything initially ran smoothly after confirmation that I could continue with my project. However, without any warning, my account was suddenly and permanently disabled. No reasons were given even after multiple calls and messages. I have left more than ten messages and the only replies are automated ones.
This is very confusing, frustrating, and shocking as PayPal's actions are hurting loved ones that really need these funds to pay for body repatriation, funeral, etc.
