How long will I need to wait until I can pay via bank account option again?

I had a $8 balance owed on my account that I paid on the day it happened and now it's $0 however my only method of paying, since I don't own credit cards, is via bank account has been blocked. The account is linked and verified in my wallet, just I can no longer pay using paypal because it asks for a card and won't allow me to pay/pick my account anymore.
I tried contacting customer service. At first they blamed the merchant and when I kept saying it wasn't a merchant issue but a paypal issue they reluctantly & with attitude agreed that "something" triggered security to remove that payment option, they won't tell me what that trigger was because of privacy (though I can only assume it was the $8.00 balance I had to pay) and paypal will not tell me, also because of privacy, how long this limitation is placed on my account. I wanted to know if this was permanent, again because of privacy (and because of the "millions of transactions per second") customer service was not able to tell me the length of time to wait this out, but I was told it was not permanent, maybe, TBH they worded it very vaguely.
So my question is, for those who found themselves no longer able to pay via their bank account, how long did you have to wait it out?

If you have had a failed bank transfer or negative balance then paypal often remove you being able to use that option in the future to reduce the risk of it happening again.
With bank accounts paypal pay the seller upfront and they wait for the bank transfer to process so they don't take that risk if you have had a failed transfer and ask you to use a card (instant) option instead at no risk to them.
Advice is voluntary.

So it IS permanent? I won't ever be able to use the linked account ever again?
This is what I have been trying to get a yes/no answer for because I'm cardless so there is no point me maintaining a paypal account as this is the only feature I use with them. For whatever reason not a single customer service rep will straight out say "you can no longer use this feature" or "you won't be able to use paypal for [X] timeframe".
I understand the block but I don't understand the lack of transparency around how long the block remains.

No idea if its permanent or if you can add another bank, only customer services can tell you that one.
All I can say is that folks on here have found that they can't use their bank account if they have had a negative balance or failed bank transfer caused by their linked bank.
Advice is voluntary.

And that's a part of the frustration, because of privacy laws CS say they're unable to tell me that nor give me an answer if I link another account so I'm completely left in the dark. I've spent more than enough time hunting answers online without anything concrete, it's all so wishy-washy, sometimes paypal blocks the use of using your bank account like this but not always, no one knows when they can use their bank account again, most times the client rage quits paypal and sets up an alternative account somewhere else without reporting back if it was ever lifted. There isn't any ToS that is clear on the timeframes, customer service either has no clue, blames the merchant or hides behind "sorry because of privacy I can't tell you that" which is a bizarre answer to me because we're not talking about specific accounts, only punishment time lengths.
I'm so annoyed with myself, I move funds to this account for online shopping and I failed to calculate shipping so when I purchased that $8 was shipping, if I was paying attention paypal wouldn't be blocked like this.
I just really need to know what the time line is, if it's a week or a fortnight fine I can wait that out but as it's been the only way I've been paying online since paypal allowed bank accounts to be linked I just need to find an alternate if it's longer than that.
Just frustrating not knowing because the service was fine until now.
