Refund pending payment

I have sold an item (not using eBay) and the money sent by the buyer is appeared to be in "Pending" status. Don't know why. And, I didn't receive any mail from PayPal on how to get the money and etc. So, I decided to send the pending amount back. How can I do that? So that, PayPal uses only the pending amount for the refund, but not from my account.
