Payment pending.

I ordered item from argos, and paid with paypal, when i finnished the transaction, argos told me item out of stock, now im 24.99 pending. how do i cancel this. please help

You cannot cancel the transaction, the merchant would have to do that.

Surely the payment does not go through if the item is cancelled. how long with the payment be pending. Dont think i will be using this payment method again unless im on ebay. Not very happy about this.

Not sure its paypals fault the item is out of stock.

A pending item normally bugs out at around 30 days, this is because often suppliers don't process an order before that time so it gives them the chance to get the item processed before accepting the payment.
