I want my money back!!!

Over the past months I’ve been dealing with an individual I sent money to for a mask. I accidentally filed it as a friends and family loan. The individual has now said that the mask hasn’t shipped and will not give me my money back. And he’s been ignoring my messages. I’ve spoken to now 4 different people on the phone at PayPal, each one telling me something different, first told me I had to go to my bank and file a dispute. I go to my bank and they tell me no PayPal has to do that. I call PayPal back and I the biggest **bleep** I’ve spoken to on the phone who pretty tells me there’s nothing we can do. Because I want to be nice I hung up instead cussing him out, but I just want my money I can provide all the screenshots of my conversions with the individual. I don’t understand how no one at PayPal can help me. My costumer experience has been terrible and honestly if there was another option to PayPal I would take just because of the way I was treated on the phone with the PayPal rep. Can someone please tell me what I can do to get my money back. It’s not letting me file a dispute or claim and I message the individual everyday and he still ignores me.

A “gift” (or personal payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
On the other hand, as it is a “personal” payment, there is also no Buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade his paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time. Scam sellers often ask for payment that way as they know this.

You also risk having your account limited for using this option when you are purchasing goods.
Your only hope is if you funded your paypal payment via a card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you.
