I was creating a notice using screen captures to help non-PayPal member/non-savvy shoppers ignore the Log In box. I needed to do this for both our French and English forms (using website standard en_CA or fr_CA and currency CAD).
I understand that the initial screen seen depends on whether you are recognized or not... via cookies?
I initially got (A) a screen with payment info across the top (kind of resembling a check), prominent log in box at right and small continue link at left. I figured I was being recognized from having logged in yesterday.
I then went to the french form to get a capture and got (B) a screen with a blue bar across the top with text announcing "la nouvelle interface" with payment info down the left column (kind of resembling a cash register slip), and in the right column, collapsed "log in" option above and expanded "credit card" option below.
I then closed my browser and tried the English form again and got the same blue bar across the top version "new paypal checkout" but this time (C) in the right column, the Login option was expanded and the no account Credit Card option was collapsed.
Now I understand why the Login vs Credit Card (B vs C) would be expanded or not depending on whether the shopper was recognized as a PayPal member or not, BUT what is it that sometimes causes the different layout to be shown (A vs C)? Why did I first get the one with the small 'Continue' link for non members ... is that an older layout? Was there maintenance going on which caused that one to show once today or did the transaction by fluke hit a different PayPal server that hasn't been upgraded to the new "faster easier" checkout screen? NO changes were made to the forms. I have closed browsers, deleted cookies, tried several combinations of being logged in or not, and could not reproduce getting that first (A) screen to show up again. I started my graphic work with that screenshot today, if customers will never see that I've wasted my time, I'd like to continue with the valid screenshot!
BTW, the blue bar "nouvelle interface" across the top on the French screens is graphically impaired (IE and FF) - the tapered end bits don't sit where they should.
