Who pays the return costs if the seller is outside the country where I received the goods?

Hello, i am in Italy  and bought a luggage from a website that is in Germany, i understood this only now...

i am trying to get a free label refunds but the customer service told me that is free only if i am in Germany and i have to pay the returns.

I think is not correct cause they are in a foreign country of course but they sold me the product in Italy so is fine the Italian law not the Germany law  , and also the European law , i paid for this product so they have to guarantee me the possibility of the refunds , is an online purchase.

Thank you

In the event of a dispute you choose your seller and not Paypal so you need to bear in mind possible return trackable costs before you go ahead and buy from that seller / country.

Paypal state this >>
IMPORTANT: You may be required to return the item to the seller or other party we specify as part of the settlement of your claim. PayPal Buyer Protection does not entitle you to reimbursement for the return shipping costs that you may incur.

You also have the option to do a chargeback via your card issuer instead of a Paypal dispute if you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card.

However nothing to stop you taking private legal action against the merchant via any small claims court in your country if you want to but not sure that would work if the transaction was an international one.
