Password should be required

I NEVER want PayPal to automatically make a payment for me without me entering my password. I shouldn't have to tell it not to do this everytime. Isn't there an opt-out I can choose?

Check your browser settings and make sure you didn't click to have the password remembered at one time during checkout.

Secondly click on settings in your paypal account and then security and then change the auto fill option for your password.

Thanks for your help.

  • My settings say, "Auto login is turned off for all devices", but it must turn on again when new payments come through.  It cheerily tells me it has done so.
  • On browser Paypal password is not saved.
  • The 'permissions given'  for prior payments:
    • When I've gone into settings and look at companies I've used in past, and review permissions, (look at permissions given) some will allow me to close them but not all e.g. Google Inc won't.  "We're sorry, we can't change your payment method right now. Please try again later."  But so far it doesn't.

    • Most have come up giving me the opportunity to change the state to 'inactive' then 'cancel automatic payments' and that looks like it will work.  I sure hope I don't have to do that with every single company I've ever used Paypal to pay!   (THANKS for helping me find the way in to this!)

  • Another response says: "Helps you check out in fewer steps and help protect your financial information when using PayPal with Google, Inc.  Show the names and last 4 digits of your available payment methods so you can choose how to pay." I can't see how I can change this, it remains  'active'.

Conclusion:  It says:  "When you're logged in to a site using PayPal, we'll save you a step during the checkout process. We won't require you to re-enter your credentials."    How can Paypal do that when I've chosen to not allow auto fill and closed down all auto payments that I can?
