I sent 500 pounds to a friend in the UK. They told me the transaction was completed, but he can't access the money! They said they've closed his account and/or put the money on hold for 20 days. We're not sure which email is the correct version of what's happening. I have called and called and of course, all I get are people in some third world country who can't seem to help at all. I am being ripped off for $738!!! I'm contacting an attorney! Paypal--stay away from it!

Hi @RobShelsky,
Welcome to the Community!
In an effort to create a safer online payments community, we sometimes place the money from a payment to one side, in a pending balance. As long as there are no problems with the transaction, they will have the money within 21 days or less. You can read further information about this and how they can get early access to the funds here.
I hope this helps you!
Craig
