Canceled invoice showing as unpaid!?

I have a invoice that I was asked to cancel and resend as a PDF through email, I do this.
About a week later I am contacted by my employer and informed that the invoice I had canceled is showing up as unpaid over on their side.

So I've canceled the invoice but it is showing as unpaid on their side.
How do I resolve this issue?
