legacy payflow link silent post not working

We have a legacy payflow link account.  ie, when I go to this help page:  https://developer.paypal.com/api/nvp-soap/payflow/integration-guide/ we are the "Legacy Payflow LInk" section and as a result we are directed to use this document to configure/code the integration:  https://www.paypalobjects.com/webstatic/en_US/developer/docs/pdf/pp_payflowlink_guide.pdf Which was last updated in May of 2012.

I've followed the instructions under advanced integration and also configured an endpoint to be used in for the "Silent Post".  The payment side works successfully, I am able to call the payflow link from my site and the transaction goes through successfully.  It also sends a confirmation email.   However the endpoint never seems to be getting called by payflow even though it works successfully when I hit it directly (using postman).    I talked to paypal support who said that the slient post only works with "Hosted Checkout Pages" which doesn't exist for this legacy account.   However, they took a look at our actual account and said that even though it doesn't show the hosted checkou pages option explicitly, under the hood it's the same thing.   They also said that everything seems to be set up fine so I should submit a technical support ticket which I will also do.

I did some searching on this and it seems that there was an issue at one point with this slient post where it was still using TLS1.0 for its https handshaking but that most endpoints have moved to TLS 2 and above.   But that seems to have been fixed by paypal.  Unfortunately, due to the nature of the endpoint we created (Quickbase webhook), I don't have access to the logs to show if there was a connection attempt that failed or if there wasn't even a try.

Anybody successfully used the slient post with a legacy payflow link account?

thanks!

Andrew
