Getting verified status on a US PayPal account typically means adding a bank account. At the time you add a bank account, PayPal sends two small random amounts to that bank account to demonstrate a good path between PayPal and the bank. This also proves that the PayPal account holder is the owner of the bank account. Telling us the small random deposit amounts earns you verified status and lifts any sending / withdrawal limits in place on your PayPal account.
While we don't know all of the information the bank requested of you at the time you were given the account, we can take confirmation of your bank account ownership to demonstrate you've provided sufficient proof of actual identity to the bank to have been given that account.
You could also get Verified if you are approved for the PayPal Plus Credit Card or PayPal Buyer Credit.
