Unable to add credit card as form of payment due to phone number. Details inside...

  • The phone number is already on the account (not new.) 😐
  • The phone number has not changed. 😐
  • The phone number on the account is my primary and only number. 😐
  • The phone number was successfully validated this morning with an OTP (one time pin) 😎

  • When I go to add the new form of payment, I am asked to add a phone number to receive either an OTP or phone call to validate.😐😑
  • I enter the SAME phone number (the same one that is already on the account, been on the account, validated with an OTP TODAY) and get an error stating "This type of phone number is not supported. Check your number and try again." 😡😯😓

  • This is the second day and running out of time for the purchase. 😬
  • Unable to get a human through the phone number.😡
  • Contacted support via the simulated chat/email jobbie on the website, however the response hours later was not relevant nor helpful. 😖😡
  • Contacted support again through the same chat/email jobbie asking them to actually read the message before responding and sharing the time frame.

Is it a mobile and not landline phone?

Only the latter is no longer any good for i.d. verification or security purposes.

Also is it registered in your name only and issued in your country?

Have you confirmed it?

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

1) The same phone number is ALREADY associated with the account from the defining. 2) I had successfully verified the number AGAIN THAT SAME DAY as I was g to the account. So no change to phone number, freshly verified the phone number - and unable to add a credit card because it asks me to add a phone number that then gives errors? Error and workflow sequences suggest PayPal was insisting on adding a second phone number. 3) Error message for PayPal website gives no indication to any of the points mentioned above. 4) Everything is legit and only my number. See point 2. —- Eventually a PayPal agent did call and we got everything resolved over the phone. PayPal is always painful, with hardly anything going smoothly and have to contact support and burn hours of time for the simplest of functions. For these reasons I abandon PayPal unless there are no feasible alternatives.

Not seeing a way to edit response - a few auto correct errors: - defining = beginning - was g to the account = was logging into the account -
