I recently bought a game on Xbox using my card on my account and after the purchase I took the card off because I don't trust leaving my card on here and it gave me the game but it didn't take out my money any advice I don't want to be charged unexpectedly

Transfers from cards / bank accounts are never instant, that is why when you buy something paypal credit the seller upfront for you and paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer to pay them back again, this is so you get your item without delay.

Funds normally leave your card / bank account from a few hours up to a few days later.
If you have removed the card then it 'may' be the funds won't transfer, so paypal will try again a few days later and also put your paypal account into negative until they manage to transfer the funds or you pay them back.

Also you can only link a card to a paypal account a max of x3 in that cards lifetime, so if you keep adding and removing it then odds are you will soon not be able to use it at all with paypal.
