When I configured PayPal as a payment option within the Lyft app on my Android device, it triggered concerning security-related email to me. I thought someone had hacked my account based on the contents of the email. I checked my wife's email account also because she also recently setup the Lyft app on her phone. She also had a concerning email. Both of our emails call out device names that we definitely never used to setup our devices, our PayPal apps, or our Lyft apps. The names seem random. I disconnected PayPal from my Lyft account and then added it a second time. This again triggered an email using the same device name of "marlin".
Here is the contents of the email that was delivered to me:
Hello FirstName LastName, You've chosen to skip login with PayPal One TouchTM when making purchases from this device: marlin. |
Email that was delivered to my wife:
Hello FirstName LastName, You've chosen to skip login with PayPal One TouchTM when making purchases from this device: bullhead. |
