Don't know, when you get a solution that works, please share with the rest of us.
This problem has been visible for a while now and it appears that neither customer support nor tech support has a resolution. There's been a few suggestions to date however, they don't appear to resolve the issue.
Even after you update the card's expiration date and save the changes, the interesting part is you still see the message on your account overview page however, when you click on the link to update the cards date, the message on the next page states that either the card has been removed or the date has been updated.
