A "pocket" would be a sub-account that you could show as part of available balance or not.
Say you're saving up to purchase a particular piece of gear -- Make a pocket for it. Add money to it occasionally (or be able to set up an automatic monthly transfer to that pocket and assign a notification when a specified amount is reached - Time to make that purchase).
Holiday savings -- You could do the same thing. Assign a monthly transfer of a particular amount (of move manually) and have a "pocket" for holiday shopping.
Taxes -- Some of us pay quarterly. Putting that money aside so it's there on those ever-important dates would be a life-saver. Make a "Tax" pocket.
OR FLIP THE WHOLE THING AROUND -- and only show the balance of your "pocket" that you use for "pocket money" --
Of course, you'd still need to have an available total somewhere... But when you make different pockets, you can assign whether those pockets are reflected in --- your "app" total for instance. Kind of an "available balance / ledger balance" thing.
HTML codes for putting payments in pockets -- Sell merchandise? One pocket. Downloads? Another pocket. Donations? Another pocket. Auctions? How awesome would THAT be at the end of the year...? Assign a default pocket to different e-mail addresses for the same purpose.
And again - Be able to "hide" those balances or show them as part of the main balance.
Where did this come from? I was just put on a waiting list for a particular piece. I have the money now. I even offered to pay the manufacturer in advance. Long story short, the money is available now - and I want it to be available when the merchandise is available for shipping. But I run "fast and loose" with my PayPal account. Every decision I make is based on the availble balance. And I could easily see (January? February?) coming around and I forget about that expense and it's then a shock to the system. So today, I created a new PayPal account strictly for this one purchase -- Which seems sort of goofy.
I was thinking to myself that I wish I just had a pocket to keep it in. And that's why I'm typing this now.
So HOW do I get this idea to the folks that matter?
