Someone's Using My Old Email Address

Some Paypal user named Emma <Removed> is using my old email address from when I was 14 to run her Paypal account. I'm planning on calling Paypal about this tomorrow, but wondered if there was anything I could do about it in the meantime. If I try to do a password recovery it lists her phone number as one of the options and also gives me the choice to add my own cell number to it. But, I obviously have no desire to possibly give my phone number to some rando from around the globe using a fake name and using my old email account for their (probably illicit) activity.

And no...trust me, there is NO chance someone made an honest mistake and mistyped their email.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, @AmaraBurrger. Thanks for taking the time to add your concern here on the PayPal Community Forum. I regret there are no options for you to resolve this situation without contacting PayPal's Customer Service.

In this situation, it would be necessary to communicate with Customer Service via the website (through a phone call or secure messaging initiated via https://www.paypal.com) or you could send a Facebook PM (https://www.facebook.com/paypal) or you could send a Twitter DM to @AskPayPal.

Once you have verified your ownership of the email address, PayPal would be able to take steps to address the situation.

I hope this helps to clarify things. Thanks for your patience during this time.

Sincerely,

Michael
