PayPal email asking for ss #?

I received an email from PayPal this morning asking for social security number and several other security type questions. Is this valid?

BE VERY CAREFUL AND CHECK THE EMAIL IS NOT A SPOOF.

Paypal does ask you to add SSN info etc but NOT via any links in an email so log in NORMALLY to your paypal account to check that its actually paypal asking and don't use any links in that email.
