A friend of mine told me about this product that Propay offers http://www.propay.com/products-services/accept-payments/microsecure-card-reader/ It allows you to plug the card swiper into a computer and then you can swipe a credit card and the money shows up in your Propay account.
I prefer Paypal to Propay and am wondering if Paypal has a similar solution. I do not have a Smartphone so I would not be interested in a Smartphone card reader.
Thanks.

Hello Bridgewater,
Welcome to the Forums.
There are a few credit card swipe device options available. We recommend this Dell Swiper - click here and you can also check out this USBswiper here. They both work with PayPal Merchant Services, when you swipe your customers credit card the money goes right into your PayPal account. I hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply and recommendations. I don't think I have Paypal Merchant Services. I just have a Paypal business account where I have Paypal buttons on my website. I don't pay a monthly fee to have Paypal. Can you tell me if the devices you recommend will work with my Paypal account? Thanks.

Hello Bridgewater,
If you you are using PayPal buttons and on your website that would mean you have Website Payments Standard which you are right is free to use. To use these swipe machines you would have to apply for Virtual Terminal, here is more information.

is there an option for smart phones yet? I know there are swipers that use other merchant processors, but I like paypal and would like to continue using it. I do have a virtual terminal account.
