When are funds available for a student account?

If I create a student account and transfer some funds from my paypal account to the student account, when can those funds actually be used for a debit or online purchase?    Is the time any different if the parent account has a balance vs. it being funded out of the linked bank account on the parent account?

In general, funds that you move from your balance to your kids student account are available to be spent instantly.  Additionally, funds moved from a bank account directly to the student account are also typically available to spend instantly.  Lastly, note that it's really nice to connect your mobile phone number to your PayPal Account so that when you do move money to your child, you can instantly check your balance and the balance in the student account by texting "bal" to PayPal "729725".  When you do this balance check via mobile phone texting, you'll get the balance of your account and the student account texted back to you which is REALLY sweet!
